ORIENTATION REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate Students (not including Exchange & Visiting Students)

You must first register for orientation in your admissions status portal

There are five orientation components required for degree-seeking undergraduate international students.

    1. International Student Orientation (International Student & Scholar Services)

    September 18 & 19: All new international students, including freshman and transfers, are required to attend International Student Orientation on the Eugene campus.

    2. IntroDUCKtion (Student Orientation Program)

    September 19 & 20: All new students, including domestic and international, are required to attend IntroDUCKtion on the Eugene campus. 

    3. Community Course (Student Orientation Program)

    All new students, including domestic and international, are required to complete the online Community Course before coming to campus.This is where you will complete your pre-advising module, attend additional sessions, write reflections, and learn more about other IntroDUCKtion requirements. Login to your community page.

    4. Prevention Course (Dean of Students)

    All new students, including domestic and international, are required to complete the online Prevention Course. The Online Prevention Course has four modules: Alcohol-Wise, Cannabis-Wise, Consent & Respect, and Other Drugs. You will receive an email in your ‘uoregon.edu’ mailbox with information about the online prevention course and when it will be open to complete.  For more information about the Online Prevention Course, visit dos.uoregon.edu/prevention-course.

    5. Get Explicit 101 (Dean of Students)

    All new students, including domestic and international, are required to attend a Get Explicit 101 session on the Eugene campus. Get Explicit 101 is a training about respectful communication, healthy relationships, sexual assault, and being a responsible Duck. You will receive an email in your ‘uoregon.edu’ mailbox with the session date and time you are required to attend. 


    Exchange & Visiting Students

    There are three orientation components required for exchange students:

    1. International Student Orientation (International Student & Scholar Services)

    September 18 & 19: All new exchange students are required to attend International Student Orientation (ISO) on the Eugene campus. There is no registration for ISO. Instead, exchange students must "check-in" on Monday, September 18. The ISO schedule will be posted below and will also be emailed to students approximately one month before the start of fall term.

    2. Prevention Course (Dean of Students)

    All new students, including exchange students, are required to complete the online Prevention Course.     Graduate Students 

    1. International Student Orientation (International Student & Scholar Services)

    September 18 & 19: Graduate students are strongly encouraged to attend International Student Orientation on the Eugene campus. Portland international students will receive a separate orientation on the Portland campus.


    Temporary Homestay Program

    New international students can request to stay with a local host family (for free) prior to the start of ISO and prior to moving into on or off campus housing. The maximum amount of time you can request to stay with a host family is one week. Deadline to apply is July 1, 2023.

         2:30 pm - 5 pm        Small groups, group photo, library and campus tour

    Tuesday, September 19

         9 am - 10 am            Intro to University Health Services: Insurance, immunizations, health and wellness | Straub 156

                                             Intro to Dean of Students: student conduct code and services | Straub 156

         10 am - 11am           Intro to UO Police: Safety and Well-being | Straub 156

                                             Intro to Registrar Office: Registration, student records, calendars, refunds | Straub 156
