Pre-Arrival Checklist: Exchange & Visiting Students

Step-by-step guide on the requirements to register for classes.

1

Claim Your DuckID

Your DuckID is your primary network login for everything on campus. You must "claim" your DuckID to complete many pre-arrival tasks. Refer to How to Claim your DuckID Instructions.

You will need to know your UO ID number (Nine-digit number that starts with 95x-xxx-xxx) and Personal Access Code (PAC, six-digit number/letter security code that's used with UO ID). Students receive their PAC in their admissions email. If you did not receive a temporary PAC or have misplaced your temporary PAC, please email admissions@uoregon.edu

After you claim your DuckID, you may have to wait up to one week before you can apply for on-campus housing or access other online portals. You cannot use your DuckID right away to access online portals.

Enroll In Duo

Duo is UO's two-step login service to secure your DuckID accounts.

3

Set Up UOMail

Once you claim your DuckID, you need to set up the UOmail app on your phone or laptop. Your UO email address will be your "duckid"@uoregon.edu.

TIP: Read your @uoregon.edu email with attention and take action when required. We can’t emphasize this enough. Go to UOMail and login with your full @uoregon.edu address and your DuckID password. To change your password, go to duckid.uoregon.edu.

Plan Arrival For Orientation

Exchange and visiting students are required to attend International Student Orientation. For dates and complete orientation requirements, go to https://isss.uoregon.edu/iso and scroll down to 'Orientation Requirements by Educational Level' and click on "Exchange & Visiting Students."

Submit Proof of Immunizations/Vaccines

Registration Block: You will be blocked from registering for UO classes until you submit evidence of having received the Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine. Do not wait to submit the MMR vaccine proof so that the registration hold on your account can be removed. All other vaccines can be submitted up until the start of the term and do not have a registration hold.

How to Submit MMR and Other Required Vaccines

1. Contact your doctor and request documentation that you have received the required vaccines to study in the U.S. If your doctor cannot provide you with documentation, please ask your doctor to complete the UO Certificate of Immunization Status form.

2. Once you have the documentation or UO Certificate of Immunization Status from your doctor, log into myUOHealth with your DuckID and enter the dates of your completed vaccines and upload the documentation from your doctor.

3. Log into myUOHealth and complete the “Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Questionnaire” in the "Forms" section. If you are at a higher risk of TB, you will be notified by the UO Health Center with further instructions.

For instructions on how to use the myUOHealth portal, click HERE

If you cannot complete all of the required vaccines in your home country prior to arrival, you will be required to get the vaccines at the UO Health Center and will be charged accordingly. You cannot register for classes until this requirement is met. We strongly recommend you complete all vaccines prior to arrival.

If you have any questions, please contact the UO Health Center at immunization@uoregon.edu.

Apply For On-Campus Housing

Winter 2025, Spring 2025 or Summer 2025: Register for on-campus housing as soon as possible. Space may be limited so get your application in early.

Fall 2025: Registration begins in mid-December and the deadline is June 30, 2024. Freshman are required to live on-campus and should register for on-campus housing as soon as possible. Non-freshman students (which would include transfer, exchange and visiting students) are invited to register for on-campus housing.

We anticipate spaces for non-first-time, full-time students will be limited. There will be an interest wait list if capacity is reached. The interest wait list will be used as spaces become available, with priority based on earliest registration date. Those who have not been offered a residence hall assignment by August 15, 2025, will be asked if they would like to remain on the list.

Read About Health Insurance at the UO

All new international students will be automatically enrolled in and billed for the UO Student Health Benefits Plan. If you have other health insurance which meets or exceeds the university’s requirements, you may qualify for a waiver of the UO Student Health Benefits Plan, but deadlines apply and waiver criteria is strictly enforced. For full details, go to Insurance Requirements.
