Exchange students may extend their stay in the U.S. if they receive permission to extend their exchange program or if they have been approved to do Academic Training.

TO EXTEND YOUR EXCHANGE PROGRAM YOU MUST:

• Be approved to extend your stay. Permission may be needed from your home university and/or your UO department. The UO will not cover tuition and fees for exchange students after the period covered by the exchange agreement has ended. Please make an appointment with the Exchange and Sponsored Student Advisor to discuss extensions.
• Download a DS-2019 Student Request Form and a J1 Student Extension Request Form signed by an academic adviser. Submit both forms with a copy of your current DS-2019 to the Office of International Affairs, Oregon Hall room 333.

REMEMBER: YOU MUST APPLY FOR AN EXTENSION BEFORE YOUR DS-2019 WILL EXPIRE! PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE.
