The Career Readiness Program is a series of workshops and resources offered each term to help UO international students prepare for a career during college. Early career preparation will give you the confidence and skills necessary to help you in your job search once you complete your degree.
Early career preparation can include one or more of the following:
- Getting a job on campus
- Getting an off-campus internship (paid or unpaid) during the summer vacation period
- Learning about employment benefits for international students
- Choosing or changing a major
- Understanding the U.S. business culture and norms
- Improving your business English language skills
- Learning how to develop a resume (C.V.) which highlights your education, experience and skills
- Learning how to interview for a job

One Crucial Thing to Help You Succeed in the Workplace: Suspend Your Stories Moving to a new country, working in a different language, and adjusting to a new city while trying to navigate different cultural norms can be complex and challenging. Join us in this interactive session to practice a simple process we can all use to recognize our assumptions and judgments, back away from our certainties, and employ neutral observation in order to reach the open spaces of possibility and find out what is really right in front of us.
